/read/ is a collective of marxist reading groups, hailing from /edu/ and /GET/. /read/ is split into various different reading groups, each with different interests, goals and schedules. We provide these groups access to the website and integration with a Matrix community. The website is primarily used as the place for official schedules and as general repository for ebooks.
Besides our own use, this site is also maintained with the goal of providing ebooks, reading lists, and commentary on books. Our hope is to allow others to come to our website and find new things they could study by themselves, without necessarily having to join our group. As such, we have added a library section, and will be adding reading lists, charts and recommendations in the future.
Our goal is to allow people on the internet, normally involved in leftist discussion circles to engage in some things which are very rare in these communities: critical thinking, reading and studying. We are an online reading group, meaning there is very little real organization or praxis or we can actually do. Our purpose, thus, must be one
